Netflix Discrimination? The REAL Reason Mo'Nique Was Offered Less

On Friday, January 19th, comedian Mo'Nique posted a video urging all to join her in boycotting Netflix.

Her Reason?  Gender bias and color bias.

She is upset that Amy Schumer was paid $13 million to film a Netflix Specialand Chris Rock and Dave Chapelle $20 millionwhile she was only offered $500,000.

It took me less than 5 minutes to figure out why this was the case.

The other 3 comedians are vastly more popular than Mo'Nique.

At the time of this article, Amy Schumer has 4.7 million Twitter followers.  Chris Rock has 5.3 million.  Mo'Nique sports a measly 150K.  Dave Chappelle has managed to maintain 556K followers (3.7 times that of Mo'Nique) despite having not Tweeted a thing since 2012!

150K is a pitifully low number of followers for a celebrity.  Political YouTubers operating out of their basement have more Twitter followers than that.  Based on that low popularity Mo'Nique should be grateful to even get an offer.

Admittedly, Twitter isn't the only gauge of popularity or relevance, but let's do some math to put this into perspective.  Amy Schumer is THIRTY-ONE TIMES more popular.  Chris Rock is THIRTY-FIVE TIMES more popular.  Yet the $13 million given Amy is only 26 times more than what was offered to Mo'Nique.  If anything, Amy should be upset.

In addition, Mo'Nique's logic is full of holes:
"Amy Schumer got paid more because she is white."
But Chris Rock is black and he got paid more than Amy...
"Well, then it's because he's a man!"
Isn't it convenient that you can always find an excuse for victimhood?

If Mo'Nique's complaining wasn't enough, Wanda Sykes decided to chime in:

This is laughable.  Wanda also has pitifully few Twitter Followers.  And who's even heard of EPIX?  Also, who starts their sentences with a period?

One of Wanda's followers added:

Last time I checked, seniority wasn't a factor in your paycheck in the entertainment industry.  Relevance and popularity are, and neither Sykes or Mo'Nique have either, as one non-white woman (gasp!) pointed out:

It seems obvious why Mo'Nique was offered less.  Yet, some Social Justice Warriors seem to still be in denial.
